Who we are

Since 1905, we have fought for everyone's right to live a life that's meaningful to them. With our eyes on the future. Our children, education, and the climate.

The Danish Social Liberal Party (Danish: Radikale VenstreRV) is a social-liberal political party in Denmark. The party was founded as a split from the Venstre Reform Party in 1905.

Historically, we have played a central role in Danish politics and have supported governments on both sides of the political spectrum, as we firmly believe in the need for co-operation to ensure stability and good governance. We are a member of both Liberal International and ALDE.

The Social Liberal Party believes that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights — and must be treated with respect.

The need for community

We understand the strength of community. Life alongside others is the foundation of individual freedom and well-being. We extend a hand to those in need — and everyone has a place in the community. Diversity and equality go hand in hand, and gender equality is both a fundamental right and one of the greatest opportunities of our time.

Active participation by each individual is essential to a liberal democracy. Everyone has the right to have a voice — and to be one.

Community encompasses both the relationship between people and our responsibility to the world around us. Through sustainable development, we aim to pass on the Earth to future generations in better condition than we received it. This applies to the climate and biodiversity, just as it does to human lives and societies.
The planet must be greener, individuals freer, and our shared community stronger.

In the Social Liberal Party, we believe that international cooperation is the path toward a more just, sustainable, and prosperous world.
